You have four options to fix it. 

Option 1: Select the apple icon on the top left, select Force Quit, and shut down Google Chrome, then reopen it from your dock. 

Option 2: type "chrome://restart" into the address bar and press return. This restarts and reloads your tabs immediately and takes less than 30 seconds.

Option 3: hotkey force quit the app using the keyboard shortcut Command-Option-Escape. 

Option 4: do a full shutdown and restart of your computer to restore default settings.
