Google Meet Basics
Google Meets example main screen for students

You can annotate (mark) directly on your screen in GoogleMeet. This is a right-click function. Your teacher may use this function to temporarily direct your attention to one part of the website, but you can use it to mark up a slide, then screenshot it for future reference or for an assignment.

Screensharing will be OFF for students, by default, but your teacher may ask you to share your screen at times. The box with the arrow point up on your toolbar is the screensharing button.

Chat is different in GoogleMeet--there is only a public chat option. If you need to private chat your teacher, use your GoGuardian chat.
